Boyertown's Shane Houck hit a three-run home run in the second inning, starting an offensive onslaught that catapulted the unbeaten Bears to an easy 18-0, seven-inning win in a meeting of playoff contenders at Hamburg.
The Bears (6-0 Red Division, 12-0) banged a dozen hits on their way to the interdivision shutout of the Reds (5-4 White, 8-4), who managed just three hits against Boyertown right-hander Matt Kelly.
Kelly blanked Hamburg with 13 strikeouts and walked only two. Houck had two hits, and was the only Bear with more than one. Jeff Rhoades doubled for Boyertown.
Drew Meaenza suffered the loss for the Reds, who fell into a 3-0 hole after Houck's homer, then watched the Bears tack on two more in the third, three more in the fourth, and a total of 10 more in the sixth and seventh.
