2007 ESCAPE THE ROCK WRESTLING TOURNAMENT

Council Rock South Wrestling is proud to present the second annual “Escape the Rock Wrestling Tournament” on January 5 & 6, 2007 at Council Rock South High School. Last year’s inaugural event was a 10 team, dual meet tournament that culminated with perennial Pennsylvania state power Easton Red Rovers downing the host Council Rock South Golden Hawks 37-24 in what was a very exciting final. This year, the event has been expanded to 24 teams and is an individual tournament, with the top eight wrestlers at each weight receiving awards. This includes a custom Championship Belt for the winner of each weight class. We are happy to welcome Brute Wrestling, Kennedy Industries and NHSCA Sports Network aboard, as they join the many local businesses as event sponsors. Wrestling is set to begin at 4pm on Friday, January 5, with the finals scheduled for 7pm on Saturday, January 6, 2007.

This year’s tournament has attracted some top teams from Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Delaware and Virginia, one of which Paulsboro, NJ, who is #24 in WIN magazine’s most recent national team rankings. There are many returning state qualifiers and place winners scheduled to compete, including the following who are currently ranked nationally by WIN magazine: from Pennsylvania, Council Rock South’s Mark Rappo (#3 at 103), Dillon Evans (#16 at 152) and Austin Carter (#12 at 189) and Middletown’s Tyler Nauman (#8 at 130); from Delaware, Sussex Central’s Connor McDonald (#2 at 119) and St. Mark’s Tommy Abbott (#6 at 140); and from New Jersey, Paulsboro’s Demetrius Hester (#16 at 285). For those who can’t make the trip to beautiful Bucks County to catch the action in person, all of the results will be posted online, live as they happen, courtesy of NHSCAsportsnetwork.
