Format An individual, 10 man, pool-based, round robin event. Each weight class will be seeded with wrestlers #1-#10. Each wrestler in the tournament is guaranteed 5 matches. Team scores will be kept. Individual and Team awards will be given.
Seeds #1, #4, #5, #8, and #10 will be in pool A Seeds #2, #3, #6, #7 and #9 will be in pool B
Seeding will be determined based on state placement, qualification, then varsity record. Each wrestler will face the other four wrestlers in their pool. At the end of pool action, an order of pool-placement will be determined by the following criteria: Best record. Any ties will be broken by head to head result. We will wrestle to 10 places. The finals will be a crossover round, pitting the following wrestlers against each other:
Championship 1st place from Pool A vs. 1st place from Pool B 3rd Place 2nd place from Pool A vs. 2nd place from Pool B 5th place 3rd place from Pool A vs. 3rd place from Pool B 7th place 4th place from Pool A vs. 4th place from Pool B 9th place 5th place from Pool A vs. 5th place from Pool B
Mats 5 mats will be used. All mats will be used constantly throughout the entire day.
Schedule This event will have six rounds of wrestling. (Four rounds of pool wrestling for each athlete, plus one bye round, plus the finals round). This will take apprx. 10.5 hours. Weigh-ins will be 7:30-8:30am on December 10. Wrestling will begin at 9:30am and conclude at 8:00pm. Finals begin at 6:15pm.
The NHSCA is looking for five more teams to round out the field. We are looking for teams with the following characteristics:
a) a full line-up b) the ability to travel to the beautiful Tampa, Florida area c) the desire to wrestle some good competition from around the country d) the desire to get a lot of gauranteed matches for their wrestlers
This tournament is a great opportunity for teams from all over to wrestle great competition and get guaranteed matches for everyone. There will be a balance of great teams and above-average teams. The event will serve the superstar and the average varsity wrestler equally well. The Tampa, Florida area makes a beautiful get-away during this time of the year.
