Welcome to the Southeastern Pennsylvania Dual Meet League.
With interest seeming to have dropped off in the summer months, the league has ended for the season. Stay tuned for next year!
There are some exciting changes and improvements in the 2nd Annual SEPA Dual Meet League. While last year was a trial run, this year plans to be much more organized while greatly expanding the number of participating teams and wrestlers, thereby increasing the number of matches for everyone.
Every wrestler and coach will be given a username and password to login into the league website. Once their coach has created the team online, wrestlers can create/update their profile under their team. Once the schedules have been made wrestlers will designate the matches and/or tournaments they will be attending and their weight classes. Before each SEPA Dual Meet, coaches will be emailed a list of those wrestlers from both teams who have signed up for the match. Therefore, individual matches can be set ahead of time.
This website will keep track of all wrestlers’ records for not only the dual meets, but also any open tournaments and events outside the SEPA Dual Meet League for which you wish to submit results.
While we would like registration to have taken place by mid-March, they may take place throughout the spring. Matches may be scheduled anytime from the end of March all the way through the second week of August. Coaches must contact Coach Burychka (burychka@bashwrestling.com) as soon as possible to set up team. Coaches will then need to login into the website to show their team’s availability for all possible dates of matches.
Also, SEPA League t-shirts are also available. You may use your registration form to order shirts or contact Coach Burychka. Sizes S, M, L, XL, and XXL are available. We will begin distributing the shirts when the matches begin.
Here are some of the rules for the league: Weigh-Ins: Honor System - coaches will weigh (scratch weight) wrestlers in at their home schools before coming to dual meet locations (or at the match if necessary). This may take place on the day of the match or at practices 1-2 days before the match. We do not want the focus to be on cutting weight, but we do want to make it fair. Eligibility: Wrestlers in grades 7-11 during the 2003-04 school year. However, if seniors are needed to fill in open spots in lineups, then that is acceptable. Nonetheless, exhibition matches will be available to all wrestlers (with priority given to non-seniors). Lineups: Coaches will determine the lineups for the dual meets and the matchups for exhibition matches. This may be done through wrestle-offs in practices or simply choosing at the dual meet in order to get the best matchups. Uniform: Singlets and headgear preferred, but tight fitting workout clothes acceptable. Length of Bouts: 1 - 1˝ - 1˝ Referees: Each home team will be responsible for finding volunteer officials. If none are found, then coaches or other knowledgeable individuals may officiate matches. Mats: Two full size mats are preferred (but not required). One for the dual meet and the other for exhibition matches. Exhibition Matches: The goal for each dual meet is to give each wrestler at least one or two matches. Therefore, wrestlers who wrestle in the 1st team dual meet may also get exhibition matches. Home Team Responsibilities: Each hosting school may set up the dual meet as they see fit. Some may set it up in their wrestling room as an informal event. Or they may organize a larger event in their gym, sell concessions, and invite fans. Dual Meet Scoring: The focus of the 1st team dual meet (as well as the entire league) should be on giving kids opportunities to wrestle rather than teams winning or losing. Therefore, if a team does not have a weight class filled in the 1st team dual meet, then it is scored as a no-match rather than a 6-point forfeit.
If you have any questions concerning the league or the website, please contact Coach Burychka, burychka@bashwrestling.com or call 610-597-5842.
